3. The topic/motion will be announced on the website before the competition day. However, the stance ('For the Motion' or 'Against the Motion') that each group will take will be revealed on the competition day. Participants will be given time to prepare for the debate.
4. The team must be fully prepared to argue from any stance assigned to them.
5. Each team must consist of only 3 members: First Speaker (Introduction), Second Speaker (Rebuttal and Elaboration), and Third Speaker (Rebuttal and Conclusion). The roles of each speaker are further discussed in the sample question. Participants are advised to check it for clarity.
6. The time limit for each speaker: First Speaker - 2.5 minutes; Second Speaker - 3 minutes; Third Speaker - 2 minutes.
7. Each team will have 7/8 minutes to deliver their speech.
8. The timekeeper will provide initial and final warnings to the speakers. All speakers must conclude their speeches with a final warning.
9. Each team must have a unique and distinguishable name.
10. During the divisional rounds, the students will debate their respective topics at their divisional venues.
11. During the final rounds, they will debate their respective topics at the North South University campus.
12. Any announcements and extra information will be provided by volunteers and invigilators.
13. The decisions made by the judges are final and cannot be changed.

9. Judges may also disqualify a participant for gross misconduct or ineligibility. 1. We only accept hard copies of news.
2. For your divisional round, your scripts must be ready.
3. Participants must deliver one hard copy news, and they need to recompose the articles into a presentable script. Then participants need to perform the news like a professional news anchor.
4. According to the division, the date will be announced.
5. Participants need to record themselves to perform the news reading in front of the camera.
6. The maximum length of the video has to be 5 minutes long.
7. The video may not be edited in any way.

2. Those who will be the winner of the semi-final only will be promoted for the final round.
3. In the final round, participants are required to deliver the news like a professional news anchor.

To write a good short story is to open a door to a whole new world so the question is can you do it?

8. If a participant exceeds the given performing time, each point will be deducted for every 10 seconds exceeding the original time. The maximum exceeding time will be 3 minutes, if participants exceed the 3 minutes overtime, participants will be disqualified. The timekeeper shall provide warning signals to the participants by showing the remaining time.
9. All participants must be present in the waiting room at least 30 minutes before the competition begins.

In this segment, each participant is expected to deliver a speech without any preparation and created, done, or formed on or as if on the spur of the moment. The speaker will be provided with their topic in the form of a quotation, but the topic may also be presented as an object, proverb, one-word abstract, or one of the many alternative possibilities.

General Rules

1. Every participant will be sent the Google meeting link at least one day before the competition round via email.
2. It’s mandatory to attend the webinar to learn some tips and tricks from the competition of judges.
3. Participants who won’t attend the Technical Meeting and Webinar Session won’t be privileged to receive further information from the committee after those sessions.
4. It’s mandatory for every participant to remain present in the waiting room at least 30 minutes before the competition rounds start.
5. Before each round starts, there will be a technical check to ensure participants’ mic and camera are functional.
6. It’s mandatory for every participant to show the upper half of their body through the camera when performing
7. There will be a roll call before every round starts, and all participants will be called maximum 3 times; otherwise will automatically be considered as a walk-out.
8. It’s mandatory for the participants to remain inside the waiting room until they are called to perform.
9. The audio must be clear and without echo, static, or other excessive noise during the performance.
10. Only a single-camera setup is permitted; multiple camera angles are not allowed.
11. It must be ensured from the participant's end regarding the placement of the camera in the safe position to prevent any disruptions.
12. The camera must have an unobstructed, in-focus view of the participants.
13. The entire performing area must be visible throughout the recording.
14. Zooming in or out is not permitted when performing.
15. Facial expressions must be visible throughout the performance.
16. If the participants have technical issues such as lagging or being disconnected from the Google Meeting, participants can contact the LOs or Committees to inform them of the problem. At the same time, the judges will wait 2 minutes for the participant to reconnect and resume their performance.
17. If within a 2 minutes period the participant fails to connect then the participant will be moved to the last queue, including a deduction of ‘x’ points.
18. If the participants are disconnected while performing in their second chance and can’t reconnect within 2 minutes, participants’ performance will be nullified by the organizers.
19. Judges may (at their discretion) deduct ‘x’ points from the total score in one round for violation of rules (except for timing).
20. Judges may disqualify participants for unwanted misconduct or ineligibility.
21. All judges’ decisions and results inside the result slips and ballot will be considered as the final result.
22. Participants are suggested to use laptops or smartphones to prevent sudden disconnect if a blackout happens during a performance.
23. Participants are suggested to have a backup internet connection such as mobile data or other wifi connections.
24. Before the first day, participants will be provided with the topic via email.
25. Participants must prepare a speech based on the topic. Utilization of their own creativity to create an impressive speech is always encouraged.
26. Participants are prohibited from bringing any script/notes in the video.

Eligibility

• J – Junior (Class 6/ Grade 6/ Year 6 to Class 8/ Grade 8/ Year 8 Students of Bengali Medium/ English Version/ English Medium/ Any Medium from Any Nationalities). Age Limit (11-14 years)
• S – Secondary (O Level Students of English Medium from Any Nationalities / Class 9 to Class 10 Students of Bengali Medium/ English Version). Age Limit (15-17 years)
• HS – Higher Secondary (A-Level Students of English Medium from Any Nationalities / 11th and 12th Grade Students of Bengali Medium/ English Version). Age Limit (18-20 years)
• T – Tertiary (Undergraduate and Graduate Students from Different Universities in Bangladesh or Any Nationalities / Colleges affiliated with the National University of Bangladesh) Age Limit (20-27 years)

Performance Time

The maximum time varies in each round. If a participant exceeds the performing time given, ‘x’ points will be deducted for every 10 seconds exceeding time. The maximum exceeding time will be ‘x’ minutes, if participants exceed the ‘x’ minutes overtime, participants will be disqualified.

The timekeeper shall provide warning signals to the participants by showing the remaining time via the team’s google meet’s screen.

Rounds

• Divisional Selection Round: Participants from every division will participate in the competition according to our given date and scheduled time.
• Final Round: The selected participants from the Divisional Selection round will participate in the final round according to our given date and scheduled time.

Rules and regulations for the eligibility

1. People between the ages of 20 and 27 can apply
2. Participants who learn German language as a foreign language are eligible to register. German native speakers are not allowed.
3. The first 25 registration for the German A2 Level will be considered for the first round
4. The first 25 registration for the German B1 Level will be considered for the first round
5. Please apply either in A2 Level or in B1 Level.
6. Students selected from the first round will perform with others (one group consists of 3 persons) in the final round.
7. Students will perform on a digital platform via ZOOM.

• First Round: 5 to 10 min Interview will be conducted in German on daily communication.
• Final Round: One hour before the final round, the topic will be given to the respective group members to perform together in the final round. Group can select the segments E.g. Debate/dramatic scene/talk show.
